DESCRIPTION:The Pioneer Consort will perform the 5th annual New Englan
 d Noel, a holiday concert featuring music from their Noel Holiday disc
  and \"World View\" CD and some new arrangements, on Sunday, December 
 15, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at the historic Loring-Greenough House, 12 Sout
 h Street, Jamaica Plain.As in their debut release, World View,  Noel 
 traverses the globe to gather its styles and sounds, and features a wi
 de variety of instrumentation and sparkling arrangements celebrating t
 he winter holidays.  A quote from the liner notes summarizes their vi
 sion:  \"We wanted to arrange and record in a way that would evoke a 
 band of Renaissance minstrels, an Appalachian cabin, a Native American
  fireside, even a shipboard flagon of Yuletide mead on a storm-tossed 
 sea far from home. We chose to play a combination of the very familiar
  and more obscure, sometimes rustic, sometimes polished, but always au
 thentic.\" The Pioneer Consort are: Michael Nix, guitars, banjar, mand
 olin; Chris Devine violin, viola, mandolin, recorders, flute; and Greg
  Snedeker, cello, piano and melodica. CDs will be available at www.Pio

 the program.The Sunday Afternoon at the ‘Greenough House series recr
