Continuing in their tradition of musical diversi ty, the Pioneer Consort’s arrangements draw from many cultures and m usical traditions and uses a wide variety of instrumentation. \"Noel\" features a variety of colorful elements and sparkling arrangements ce lebrating the winter holidays. as well as music by Bach,  Brubeck, Tc haikovsky, and Mendelssohn. The Pioneer Consort describe \"Noel\": \"W e knew we wanted to arrange and record in a way that would evoke a ban d of Renaissance minstrels, an Appalachian cabin, a Native American fi reside, even a shipboard flagon of Yuletide mead on a storm-tossed sea far from home. We chose to play a combination of the very familiar an d more obscure, sometimes rustic, sometimes polished, but always authe ntic.\" Meet the musicians of the Pioneer Consort and their guests at afternoon tea following the program. The Sunday Afternoon at the ‘ Greenough House series recreates the atmosphere of 18th and 19th centu ry “musical afternoons” in the 1760 Loring-Greenough House, twice monthly, October to May.
