DESCRIPTION:The historic Loring-Greenough House in Jamaica Plain will 
 host Libella Quartet, Boston’s only professional vocal quartet, for 
 its Sunday Afternoon Parlor Concert Series on Sunday, March 23, 2014 a
 t 3 o’clock.  The program is entitled “Now Is the Gentle Season: 
 a concert of Motets and Madrigals ” and includes works by known and 
 lesser-known composers like Giovanni da Palestrina, Josquin des Prez, 
 Heinrich Isaac, Adrian Willaert, Jakob Arcadelt, Cyprian de Rore and O
 rlando di Lasso, as well as English Madrigal composers Thomas Campian,
  Thomas Morley, John Farmer and John Bennett.  Herald the arrival of 
 spring with this concert of Motets and Madrigals about Love’s Pains 
 and Joys, Parting and of course, Spring.Donation is  $15 ($10 Student
 s/Seniors/JPTC).  Tea reception follows the concert.  Space is limit

 ng” performances by WGBH host Brian McCreath, the Libella Quartet is
  a vocal ensemble performing works from all periods, and committed to 
 performing 20th- and 21st-century repertoire.  Founded in 2005, the L
 ibella Quartet recently was featured at WGBH's All Classical Festival.
   The group has presented numerous concerts throughout New England, i
 ncluding “New Blood,” a program of premieres which featured winner
 s of the 2007 Libella Composition Competition.  The ensemble has appe
 ared in performances with The American Schubert Institute in Cambridge
 , MA, and at the Longy School of Music, singing music by Howard Frazin
 . The Libella Quartet has presented \"The Dove Descending,\" performin
 g 20th-century a capella works, and a program of music by Robert Schum
 ann at the Lily Pad in Cambridge, MA. Most recently, the quartet appea
 red at the Art at the Armory Concert series in Somerville, MA, present
 ing the well-received 20th-century a capella program entitled “Emerg
 ing Voices.”  The Libella Quartet also has appeared at the Saint Bo
 tolph Club, the Boston University Composers Concert Series, the Winche
 ster Community Music School, the First Church in Belmont, the Loring-G
 reenough House and JP Open Studios.  This spring, the group will be f
 eatured at a faculty recital at the Brookline Music SchoolThe Sunday A
 fternoon at the ‘Greenough House series recreates the atmosphere of 
 18th and 19th century “musical afternoons” in the 1760 Loring-Gree
 nough House, twice monthly, October to May. Tickets are available at t

 al landmark listed on the Massachusetts and National Registers of Hist
 oric Places, is located at 12 South Street (at the Civil War Monument)

 ca Plain Tuesday Club, Inc. as a historic house museum and site for ar
