This group has been quiet for too long.  I know there are a lot of you who care about good food.  There's great cuisine here in JP and I propose a series of restaurant pilgrimages. Let's put our money where our mouth is.  Here are a few four-star possibilities:

JP Seafood Cafe - asian, sumptuous sushi, Japanese beer, and broiled, steamed, and deep-fried seafood

James's Gate - fantastic pub food with atmosphere to spare, killer nachos, lots of veggie options

El Oriental de Cuba - platanos anyone?, Cubanos, authentic value

Wonder Spice Cafe - drunken noodles, fine spring rolls, and great service

Doyle's Cafe - historic location, one of the best breakfasts in town

Tres Gatos - Bookstore and fresh ingredients tapas

More ideas here on Urban Spoon.

Your preference? Other suggestions?

Thanks for trying to get this group off life-support, Dan.

My two cents:

Doyle's? Never been about the food which (to me) is, at best, mediocre pub food. Except for brunch.

And you should add Tres Gatos!

Tres Gatos does well on Urban Spoon, which I trust.  So up it goes.

Never had Doyle's other than breakfast/brunch.  Thanks for the tip.
