Hi all,

I didn't realize it until recently, but JP already has a bike group that is well-organized and holds events on a regular basis, like the Spring Roll and the Halloween ride. Their members are also interested in group rides, tuneup/bike-wash days, etc. They have a lot more momentum in terms of activity and level of organization going than this group.

Rather than duplicate efforts, why don't we combine forces with JP…

Hi neighbors,

JP Neighbors Cycling is one of the largest groups on Neighbors for Neighbors, which is awesome! Alas, we haven't done as much as I think we could have.

I'd like to change that, so I've made a survey to see what people would like to do and when:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9JP8N56
Tick off all the things you'd be potentially interested in (and when you'd like to do them, via the
Giant Matrix Form of Dooooooom), and leave any further comments here, or start your own discussion!

I can share the results of the survey in a few days, and we can hang out somewhere and go over the ideas people have contributed. Make sure to leave your email address in the survey if you want to come to that meeting, so we can find a convenient time, and so I know how many people are interested in helpin' out. Hey fellow JP cyclists, who's up for a ride this weekend? It's going to be 50 degrees! I suspect we're all a bit pokey, so don't worry about how fast you are. Let's just enjoy being outside and on wheels!

There are a couple of options, including CRW's Saturday morning fitness ride (leaves from Nahanton Park, variety of mileage options) and a Sunday ride leaving from Larz Anderson Museum (2 mileage options I think.) We could also make our way out to the Minuteman path, Concord, and Walden Pond…

Who's game? Ideas? Winter "Bike Pool" from North End/Downtown to JP?tag:neighborsforneighbors.org,2010-09-17:1171189:Topic:533052010-09-17T19:45:04.404ZAlexhttp://neighborsforneighbors.org/profile/Alex431
Fellow JP Cyclists...

I ride to work most days from Jamaica Plain to my office near North Station. Safety in numbers and all that. Call it a "bike-pool," if you will, similar to a carpool.

My thought is that a group of folks who work roughly in the same area could agree to meet at a designated spot at the same time each evening to ride en masse back to JP. There could even be "stops" along the way at which we could pick up more folks, e.g. 5:30 PM at the end of Storrow Drive, 5:40 at Mass. Ave bridge, etc.

I'd love to hear from others who'd be interested in such a group. Obviously, we'd need a critical mass of interested folks to make this work, as on any given day, probably only a subset would actually be riding.

Thanks!

Alex

Meet and greet, intro to group riding, tomorrow AM?tag:neighborsforneighbors.org,2010-08-27:1171189:Topic:517402010-08-27T18:48:52.833ZBretthttp://neighborsforneighbors.org/profile/Brett
I'd like to meet some of my cyclin' neighbors, get out on the road bike for some miles, and get this group rolling! We have almost 100 people in the group, after all :)

I had a random idea: why not do a friendly, social ride to give this group a kick in the pants, and also serve as an introduction to group riding for those who are new-ish to group rides? Then (more) folks will be comfy joining in on future activities, know some people in the group already, etc.

We can meet…

I could possibly do Sunday morning instead, but it's going to be much hotter during the day.
TONIGHT: Boston By Bike...At Night!tag:neighborsforneighbors.org,2010-08-14:1171189:Topic:508212010-08-14T22:30:56.119ZBretthttp://neighborsforneighbors.org/profile/Brett
Hey everyone- this awesome, unique event is happening tonight...Bike around Boston with a hundred+ other people on bikes for a couple of hours when there are few to no cars on the roads, and see the sun rise at Castle Island (there's a sort of pot-luck breakfast.) More details:
It's a crazy, long night- but from everything I've heard, totally worth it! Weekday rides?tag:neighborsforneighbors.org,2010-05-27:1171189:Topic:448022010-05-27T12:32:44.160ZSteven Joneshttp://neighborsforneighbors.org/profile/StevenJones
Hi everyone,

I work in the education sector, and now that school is out for the year I have a lot of free time on my hands during the week. I've started to do some longer rides on weekdays, and I'd love to have company if anyone would care to join me. I'm relatively new to Boston, and I've been exploring the city on my bike for many weeks, but I still don't know all the best bike routes. I typically aim to do 25-40 mile rides in the morning hours.

Thanks!
-Steven
