Hi Joseph, Did you read Sam Allis's column in today's Sunday Globe (7-6-09), p. A2? It concerns a new JP resident, Brent Refsland, owner of The Hallway art gallery. Many comments I believe are right on the mark. Wonder if he and his wife (law student at Northeastern, according to the article) are members of JP Neighbors for Neighbors. Should be. Hope you had a nice holiday. Finally, sunshine! Sincerely, Barbara Hatfiel

Joseph, this site is awesome! That application for members to select a group based on the par tof the neighborhood they live in...where did you find that?

    Dude! You are my inspiration!

Great to see you too! I'll have to come up with another non-traditional age to turn at some point, and you'll know better to come!

    Hey Joseph,
so in listings for event there are, 10 events like I post and 4 fund raising events, then in forums, anything from your post which seem the revelant, and the rest about bums on the side walk etc, I'm going to dig deeper, but the main gist of it right know seems around 80% of people are promoting themselves which its a great platform for, and thank you 10% fund raisers, 5% political awareness and the most important one in my book 5% NEIGHBORHOOD AWARENESS.
This is just a dumb brits first observation, and I will examine more, when time permits, I went through, events, forums and most of the groups, with the information I had at hand.
    Love
    Lyndon

  • Stonybrook Fine Arts

    Hi,

I just posted our big yard sale this weekend in Mission Hill for Stonybrook Fine Arts and I was wondering if there is a way to post it all over rather than just in JP? We also would like to really start trying to expand our group and I'm not really sure how to grow our group. We are starting a new session of classes the end of September and want to really get the word out now.
    Thanks!

Make a Difference, organize and socialize.
My dumb way of thinking is you cannot socialize
you have to organize before you socialize
and you have to make difference before you organize so you can socialize
just a thought from a dumb brit :)

I have read her comment, but haven't seen any updated comments on what the outcome is? Did they squash that totally?

How is it going in DC?
Could you please disable the auto Twitter.API feature as it asks one to log in to twitter on very page even if one does not use twitter.

See you when you get back.

    Thanks

I met you at Web 2.0 conference today. I came back home, checked out web site and joined it. It's a great community resource. Kudos in getting it off the ground.

Hey Joe! Don't forget to drop by and help celebrate the Day of Peace at Jamaica Pond this Sunday!! Hope you had a great trip.
  • Heather Green

Oh thanks. I dunno, thought it'd be better than doing nothing. Walked up and down Boylston just now and flyered cars and most doors. Saw a bunch of squad cars in just that one hour (or potentially the same squad car going around and around), so that was good.
  • Tiffanie Starr

Sorry Joseph. I thought that I had joined ages ago. If you have flyers prepared, I would love to flyer our street. I was going to put something together anyway, so please send it along.

    Cheers

    Tiffanie
  • Captain John Greland

I would like to thank all of you who have helped to pass out the flyers. If you have watched the newscasts then you've also seen how many people are wearing their earphones and texting as they leave the T station.

Thanks Joseph! We (my husband Ted and I) just moved here and are interested in volunteer opportunities. I'll check them out and get back to you! Looking forward to meeting everyone ...

  • Kevin R. Rousseau

Hey Joseph, how are you doing?
  • Darren Stahlman

    Hi Joseph!,
I moved into the neighborhood last month and really dig it! Would love to help out if I can. JP is definitely a great place to live for 20 and 30-somethings like myself, but there are definitely some street crime issues in and around my block I would like to take a more proactive approach in preventing.

BTW it is great to live in a neighborhood where people want to get to know each other and come together to keep it safe. Great job on putting this up.
  • Pamela Lerch

    Hi Joseph,

I just took the plunge and joined! I'm so glad you started this. It's something that's so needed to help people connect in this sometimes isolated culture.

    Your video was GREAT!

I met you briefly once at a Block party.

    Warmly,
    Pam

    Hi Joseph,

    Thanks for the welcome.
Odd that I lived in JP for 30 years without joining anything & now am interested though I'm in Hyde Park. Go figure.
I guess you can take the girl out of Jamaica Plain but not the Jamaica Plain out of the girl.

    Cheerio,
    Plum

    Hey Joseph!

Merry Christmas and Seasons Greetings from Montgomery Alabama. I sure do miss JP, however I have somehow ended up as the president for our neighborhood association. Our number 1 issue is getting a handle on all the crime that seems to just pervade our streets. I saw you had an application on this site that used to display crime events against a google maps background. Is that application still working? Could you give me a the details on how it works? Our neighborhood Ning Site is still developing and is at http://montgomerygardendistrict,ning.com. Please drop in and say hello.

    Warmest Regards,
    John

  • Rebecca F (community manager)

Totally embarrassed, but I cannot find an invite. I looked in my inbox and saw nothing like that. I don't think...
