Hey kid, want some candy?

Scary phrase right?

What is even scarier is that the Tobacco Industry is doing this to our young people in MA right now in the form of underhanded tobacco marketing tactics!

Are you serious? Yep, sure am.

Did you know tobacco products are being made and marketed to look and taste like "candy" and that they are being sold in plain site and as individual units to make them more affordable to young people?

Did you…

Deliver a meal to an elderly person for Easter/Passover!

Would you like to spend one day doing something for someone else? Volunteer with Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly for EASTER! This is a great opportunity for a family, group, or individual volunteer.

Our organization provides companionship to low-income elders in the city of Boston. Our elders are over 70, live on less than $8000 a year, and have no one to spend the holiday with. Visiting Volunteers will bring a meal and flowers to an elder and spend time visiting with them.…

What If God Doesn't Give You What You Want?

We all believe - or at least have been told - that God answers prayer, but is it true? I think the best answer might be, "Yes and No."

JP Members: Changes to where you post stuff

JP neighbors,

Now that we are a citywide network, you will be posting neighborhood related information in the re-activated Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Forum. Please do not add information as a blog post unless you want to start a citywide conversation or are a NFN partner making a citywide announcement.

For events, it's really important that you tag each event…

Network Update and Next Steps

Neighbors,

A couple weeks ago, we announced we'd be consolidating our network into one city wide network. So far I've accomplished the following:

  1. Made the JP network the base network and changed the website address to NeighborsForNeighbors.org
  2. Made it really easy for you to find what you are looking for on the front page with our new "Craigslist" style navigation. Thanks you to David K for the support and Guidance.
  3. Created forum categories for each…

JP for All is making a difference!

Wanted to give everyone a quick update on our progress!

We now have 402 City of Boston residents that have signed our petition.  370 of those are from Jamaica Plain.  We also have a large number of supporters who are anonymous to me, but not the elected officials who see the emails.  We feel strongly that looking at the numbers close to 59% of the 162 are from JP.

We currently have 158 fans on Facebook and 87 followers on our Twitter account.  Not all are…

Welcome to the new Citywide Neighbors for Neighbors!

Neighbors,

Over the weekend we migrated to the our new URL and began implementing the new navigation structure on the front page.

A technical glitch took the network offline from Saturday from about 5 pm to early this morning, thanks for your patience as that took some time to resolve.

If you have any feedback or suggestions, please leave them as a comment.
