Hi! We have one bedroom in our fabulous three bedroom apt. available for subletting from either May 15 or June 1, 2011 to Aug 31, 2011. The room will be available from May 15 (paying half month for May) but move in is open anytime until June 1.
Our apt. was redone in 2006 and has modern appliances, a large eat in kitchen with pantry, and a beautiful living room with three huge windows that opens up onto a lovely back porch, complete with table and chairs which is great for the summer. We also have a grill in our backyard that we enjoy during the summer. The apt has three good sized bedrooms (fit at least a bed, dresser, and desk) and a small bedroom that is used as a communal study. There is extra closet space in the study and the living room. The bedroom available has two nice windows that face the street and get plenty of sunlight. Rent is $600/mo and utilities (gas, electric, and cable tv/internet) run an average of about $50-60 all together a person in the summer. The apt. has a basement with storage and a coin-op washer and dryer, $1 to wash and $1 to dry. We are on the second story of a three story house and our neighbors are friendly. There's even space to do some gardening if that's your thing.
We are a seven minute walk (five if you're in a hurry) from the Stonybrook T station and a 10 minute walk from the 39 bus at Perkins St. (by the mspca). We are also a ten to fifteen minute walk from the Jackson Square Stop and Shop Plaza in one direction and a seven minute walk to Hyde Square in the other direction. There's tons of non-permit street parking around. And we're close (5-8 minute walk) to awesome places like the original City Feed, the Milky Way, the Behan, Canary Square, Tres Gatos, the pond, etc!
About us: we are two women in our early and late twenties. One of us works full time at a non-profit and is finishing a Master’s Degree in Organization Leadership and one of us works part-time as a Nanny while finishing a Master's in Sociology and searching for full time work in the field. We are socially minded, but not obsessively so. We are looking to maintain a relatively clean and quiet home, being more the dinner party types than the keg party types. During the summer we each take mini-trips so the house is often not too crowded on weekends. We see home as our chill out space, but a space we can chill out together. We tend to keep our late nights to the weekends and share in household cleaning responsibilities. We are queer (us being queer) and trans friendly. Also, our landlord does not allow pets.
