The Senate is busy writing their version of the FY09 state budget. Currently they have slashed
Hearth's earmark (which helps fund our housing and services programs) in half.
I'm asking you to
call - not email - your state senator and ask him/her to voice their support for Amendment 863. The Senate Ways and Means Committee is debating budget amendments
right now and your phone messages will be delivered to the committee.
Your two minutes and your voice will go along way towards securing needed resources for our elders!
You can find out who your "senator in general court" is and their phone number
here. After you enter in your information, scroll down the page to the "District Representatives" section.
What to say when you call:
"Please ask Senators Creem and Panagiotakos to pass Amendment #863 in support of Hearth. It is level funding from last year and it does not increase the bottom line of the line item (9110-1660)."
Hearth is a great organization focused on ending elderly homeless in Boston (and beyond!). They currently run two permenant, supportive housing programs in JP for formerly homeless elders (and five more around the area). Your support is greatly appreciated!
