I don't know if anyone else has had this experience but wanted to give you all a heads up. Most of the time, when packages are to be delivered at my 3-unit condo building, if there is no signature required, USPS, UPS and FEDEX will leave the packages right by our entrance. In the past that had never been an issue and it would make people happy not to have to wait at home for a package. I still get my packages delivered at work just in case but one of my neighbors has been getting packages at home this way (without actually asking the delivery companies to leave the packages -- this has been the choice of the delivery companies). In the past couple of weeks, their packages have been opened and some of the contents stolen.
It's a busy season with people buying gifts for others and at the same time, probably a desperate time of year for people who don't have money and are struggling to make ends meet as well as for those who struggle with addiction.
So I just wanted to warn people about this and suggest having packages delivered at work if possible, or maybe asking always for signature on delivery or for packages to be held at the post office.
