Suggestions on handling a dog fight:
The suggestions are just suggestions. We are not experts nor do are we implying that we are, nor are we implying these suggestion will prevent your or your dog (s) from getting hurt.
Beecher Park is a fun place for people and their pets to socialize, and together we can make it a safe place for all. Incidents do
happen, and with a little help and cooperation we can make sure EVERYONE has a good time at Beecher Park. Incidents do happen, and if
dealt with responsibly, they do not have to cause bad days.
Please, if there is an incident between two animals, or an animal and a person, follow the procedure below:
* DO NOT break up a scuffle by grabbing a dog by the head, neck, collar, or by placing yourself between the animals. It may appear bad, but physically entering into it only increases chances of injury. Instead, BOTH owners must cooperate to break up a fight by approaching the dogs from behind and pulling at them by their hind legs, respectively. This minimizes chances of a human being bit, and pulls the dogs apart without escalating the situation.
* Once separated, BOTH owners should inspect their animals for injuries. Other dog owners should keep their own animals from interfering.
* If there is an injury (and hopefully there isn't) the owners should then call 911 and file a report with the Boston Police Department.
* DO NOT leave the scene of the incident before injuries are established and reports filed. This is irresponsible and unacceptable.
* Please further report any problems to the Beecher Park to the discussions below.
Beecher Park is not a formal organization and not does not have enforcement or reporting responsibility or authority. As always, use of Beecher Park is a choice. Be responsible and follow the rules.
