Hi folks,
My name is Sean and I'm running in the special election to succeed John Tobin as Boston City Councilor for JP and West Roxbury. I was born and raised in JP, on Lamartine Street. I went to Boston Public Schools in Roxbury, Dorchester and JP. I'm a musician by trade, and I also take a keen interest in economics. I don't own a car, and I use a bicycle for much of my transportation needs, as well as the T. Last year, I was a music teacher at Boston Latin School, directing school orchestras. The issue I am focusing on in this race is the state of the public schools - I believe that REAL school reform is long overdue, and that this issue can unite both ends of the district around a common concern. I also share many of the interests of my JP neighbors, and will be an advocate for simpler, community-approved building codes; enhanced opportunities for bike transit; expanded community gardens; more sensible drug and violence-prevention policies; and local solutions generally.
If you have any questions about my background, resume, platform, or philosophy of government - please feel free to pose them HERE, and I will answer them. You can also stop by the soon-to-open JP headquarters, located at 767 Centre Street (next to Salmagundi). Once we get the place cleaned (it was a smoke-filled hair salon for 70 years and looks/smells it), we'll bring in a couch and all will be welcome.
See you around the neighborhood, and please remember to vote in the primary on October 19th!
