Neighbors for Neighbors

Do stuff with and for your neighbors

Folks..
I wanted to add that John Booker designed our new logo. You may have met him at the EXPO, John has been a stalwart garbage brigader from day one of this group.
His help at the EXPO was incalculable. He tends to be completely diplomatic when i am sometimes a stick in the mud, and his ability to be a negotiator has been extremely helpful for me. John is featured in many of our photos, and he is a solid sustainable
living type cat. I have been asked about recycling, and i am a complete proponent
of it, but the basic concept at first in this group is getting the trash in the buckets.
First. What happens after that is an awareness campaign. What actually happens
to my garbage when I put it out on the sidewalk. I am glad you asked. And this summer at some point i hope to arrange a screening of an awesome documentary
i got called TRASHED. It tackles this and other sustainability issues. A couple
of sustainable pointers: 1. Carry a mug so you can cut down on street waste and styrofoam. 2. Carry a bag that you can put your trash in then dispose of it in receptacles on public transportation, the cleanliness of the MBTA is OUR responsibility
it is OUR mass transportation system.
3. Recycle your papers in the metro bags at your point of departure on the trains.
DON'T LEAVE IT FOR SOMEONE ELSE, IF THEY WANT ONE THEY SHOULD GET ONE AT THEIR TRAIN STATION!!!!!
4. A ratty messenger bag is 99 cents at goodwill. the amount you save in taxes
by carrying out all your trash is upward of 50 dollars a day for every man woman and child in Boston.
BE AWARE AND TAKE CARE. It really makes peoples day safer and more hospitable
when we keep JP clean. With so many trees we should have some gratitude.

Thanks again to all of you for being part of the group.

Best,

Rob
