It would be nice to support OpenID logins, especially as this seems to be an option that's turned off.

What about Windows Live? LinkedIn? Open ID?
This implementation of Social Sign-In lays the foundation for potentially supporting additional methods of third-party authentication. We will be evaluating feedback we receive and hope to add additional services in the coming months, especially after Ning IDs have been replaced with custom Network IDs.
