I've been to Shalimar Food and Spices in Central Square Cambridge and it is very good, large, comprehensive. There is also an Indian grocery in Brookline near Coolidge Corner on Harvard Street called Kashmir which is much smaller, but closer to JP.

There's a good grocery in Union Sq Somerville. Not near JP, but has always had what I was looking for.

if you are feeling ambitious there is a patel's grocery in waltham that has tons of stuff
