The Jamaica Plain real estate market remains strong in comparison to some neighborhoods in Boston and the surrounding area. Markets that have traditionally done well continue to do so for the most part. The high end market segments may be suffering a bit as appraisers have been more and more strict. Sellers may find it difficult to justify values that are in the top rung of the market as sales in that sector slow and comparables become more difficult to come by. The foreclosure market is impossible to avoid as well. In areas where these types of properties are more prevalent, values of non-foreclosure properties are pulled down or diluted. It is a very complicated market needless to say and consultation with a professional is more necessary than ever. The real estate market in JP has been really strong. We are so fortunate that we live (and work) in JP. If properties come on the market that are in good condition and priced well, they are still flying off the shelf - sometimes with multiple offers. This is not true of every neighborhood in Boston.
