Hello everybody!
We have exciting new workshops this spring and summer. Electrolytic Etching is a 2 day workshop starting on March 28-29 from 11-5 both days, $250. Learn how to perform electolytic etching, an alternative process of etching metal plates for decorative metalwork and intaglio or relief printing that involves no acids, toxic fumes or dangerous and difficult to dispose chemicals. Day one covers the process of building a DYI etching station from inexpensive and accessible components, etching resists, and design considerations. Day two gives students time to etch their own plates in brass, copper, or steel. Bring designs, drawings, or digital images to print!
We are also excited about our new partnership with Drumvibe LLC to offer drum making workshops open to 13yrs and older. The class will teach and guide each participant through the processes of basic music theory, metal working, shaping and finishing, as well as harmonic tuning techniques. Each participant will have the opportunity to create their own steel drum, with tuning they have designed or choose from over 100 traditional tunings used by DrumVibe LLC in the production of their steel tongue drums. The finished products will be approximately 8 inches high and 7 pounds. Dates to be announced.
We'll have examples with us tomorrow night! Contact us for more details or to sign up for a class.
