A new fine-art gallery is opening on Centre Street in JP in mid-March, called UFORGE Gallery www.uforgegallery.com it's at 767 Centre Street. Grand opening reception on April 9th from 6-8pm, featuring an exhibit assignment of "Art Deco".  Artists can enter pieces into the gallery for an entry fee of $35.  Size limits of 10 x 13 of any 2D piece (photography, painting, assemblage, graphic) apply.  Deadline is 3/17/11.

Different monthly assignments.  UFORGE is also hosting this year's JP to Me 2011 "Defined by Light".  Check them out!

The last serious shooting I did was in August 2008. I posted the best of Color Caribbeans on my Facebook page tonight. They are all from the Caribbean Day Parade shot at Warren Street and Martin Luther King Blvd in Roxbury.

Hello. Just bought a new Rebel T2i and I'm excited to get outside and start shooting. I'm a novice. I've dabbled a bit over the years. Used to have a 35mm Minolta back in the day, but I'd love to go on a junket with anyone interested and pick your brain for ideas/tips. I'm basically relearning everything.

The JPVoice is looking for photographers to contribute to our JP in Pictures section. We'd like to be able to post a series of pics at least once a week from readers/viewers to post a regular photo catalog of the neighborhood from the neighborhood.

All submissions (providing they are appropriate to display) will be included. Please feel free to send to thejpvoice@gmail.com.

Thanks.

Thought this would be a great place to inform local photographers about my upcoming show at Vee Vee (763 Centre St.). There will be an informal opening on Saturday March 28th, from 12-5 and should be on display for a few months. Hope you can make it. Vee Vee will also be serving there NEW Saturday Lunch Menu.

Let's post our Milky Way Parade shots here - I saw photographers out in force Sunday.

Hi JP photographers,

I enjoy exploring our area and taking nature photography, some of which can be seen here. I'll try to post any events of interest as I hear of them!

I take mostly nature pics - I love extreme closeups to show off small details that can easily go unnoticed. Endless opportunities at the pond, even just walking through the neighborhoods. Some of my best photos are taken while I'm on the way to work. Lately I've been also photographing quirky signs, like this one in the South End.
