What is the purpose of this network?
The purpose of this network is to provide an organizing infrastructure for residents, businesses, and organizations that serve Jamaica Plain, MA.
What groups can I join?
Ah, all of them, of course!
Can I start a group?
We hope you do!
Are there any guidelines for starting a group?
The only thing we ask is that your group be socially, culturally, and environmentally friendly. We monitor all activity and will intervene when we feel necessary.
What support resources are available to help met get my group up and running?
Please join, ask, and contribute to the
Leaders and Partner Support Group.
Can other people see what is being discussed in groups I belong to?
Unless the group is set up as a private group, everyone can see and read what is posted inside. While we encourage public groups, you can elect to make your group private!
My group or program is not listed as a group and I'd like to add it, what should I do?
Go to the Group tab and click
Create group.
My group or organization already has a website, Yahoo Group, or Google group. What should I do?
If you're a Neighbors for Neighbors group, we'd appreciate it if you would migrate to this network. The advantage for us is that it is a central location for all NFN-related organizing and let your members find and create other groups of interest as well as participate in the forums!
It also allows for us instantly communicate with you in the event of an emergency. If you are willing to migrate to this network, we'll help you set up a group, and migrate your members over. If you are another organization or if you'd prefer to stay where you are, we'll be happy to create a public group so your members can find you, and then embed a widget or link directing people to your site or group.
How do I put my event on the JP Community Calendar?
It's simple--send an email to jpfromjp at gamil with JP Community Calendar in the subject line to request post access. If you already have Google Calendar, you may add jpfromjp at gmail to your shared:edit settings and follow up with an email requesting we add your calendar as a layer to the JP Community Calendar. You must set the permission on your calendar to "Make this calendar public."
Who made and manages this network?
This network was developed by the Technology Committee of Neighbors for Neighbors.
Who has access to the information I shared when I created a profile?
