Wake Up The Earth with Spontaneous Celebrations!
Do you love open-air street festivals? How about live music, food, crafts, and dancing in the street? Do you enjoy diverse communities gathering together to create a dynamic and empowering event?
Well, we need your help! Come on down and help make it all happen May 7th at Wake Up the Earth!
Wake Up the Earth is calling all willing and excited volunteers to help prepare and support the festival. Not only do we need plenty of extra hands on Saturday May 7th to help with everything from parade decorating to stage set-up to compost sorting, but we’re looking for individuals to help paint banners, cook food, and get the word out beforehand! If you have any extra time you’re willing to donate, please contact volunteer@spontaneouscelebrations.org and we’ll set you up with everything you need to contribute to the festival, and we might even have a surprise for you in exchange for a few hours of your time!
Want to know more about the festival? Wake Up the Earth is an annual festival held on the first Saturday of May by Spontaneous Celebrations in Jamaica Plain, MA. It began with an act of neighborhood protest and celebrates what can be accomplished when groups of people of all ages, traditions, cultures, and beliefs come together. The festival blends traditions from May Day, Earth Day, International Workers’ Day, and Cinco de Mayo to create a truly unique tradition. The daylong festival features a parade, live musical performances, dance, children’s activities, popular theater, food, craft vendors and local artisans, story telling, and dozens of non-profits and community organizations.
