On Thursday, July 24th, the Youth Community Organizers (YCOs) of the Hyde Square Task Force host the community at the annual ‘Let’s Vote BBQ’—the third event in HSTF’s Summer Nights Out series. The event kicks off the YCO’s ‘Vote for Me!’ campaign—an initiative to build community power by mobilizing those of voting age to become more engaged in civic life. ‘Vote for Me’ has a dual purpose—requesting voters head to the polls on behalf of youth, and revealing that these young organizers are today’s leaders and potentially tomorrow’s candidates.
The “Vote for Me!” kickoff will involve voter registration and education, a politically-themed dunk tank, a BBQ, music, and civic oriented activities. City and State officials who represent the Hyde/Jackson Sq. area have been invited to attend and share information about their role as civic leaders.
