Live In Peace (L. I. P.)
Luis Troncoso Memorial Celebration
August 2, 2008 – Stony Brook Park
Had he lived, July 30, 2008 would have marked Luis Troncoso’s twenty-second birthday. On August 2, 2008, family and friends, and the community affected by Luis’ tragic and untimely death are joining together to celebrate his life, peace, and community healing. A healing circle will be held at 11A.M. for family members, friends, and those personally affected. While the healing circle will not end the pain of mourners, it is intended to be a space to begin the process of closure. At 1P.M., we will open up to the larger community, joining neighbors in celebrating and living in peace. There will be free food and music for all, balloon animals and face painting for children, and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament. As a celebration of life, this family-oriented event will provide the opportunity for participants to incite and unite our community to live in peace for Luis and for one another. This event is sponsored by Spontaneous Celebrations.
