Peace Boston will hold a Peace-a-Thon event at Dudley Square (Roxbury, MA) legend Funky Fresh Records. The store has been supporting the Peace in the Streets album with bin space and peace promotions. Funky Fresh will sadly close after twenty years in the community in the early part of October. Peace Boston hopes that the Peace-a-Thon will draw people out to engage in peace activism and violence prevention through the sale of the CD while bringing more traffic to Funky Fresh Records.
Peace Boston has launched into the dawn of the Fall with some exciting news and projects!
- Peace Boston Founder Cindy Diggs can be seen in the September 22, 2008 issue of TIME Magazine, pictured with student mentees at the Citizen School in Roxbury, MA. Peace Boston itself has been garnering media inquiry for the Peace in the Streets CD project; a fundraiser for the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute Burial Fund and for funding activities that provide violence prevention and youth elevation. Ms. Diggs has participated in interviews for Boston's commercial Urban station JAMN 94.5 on the D. Brown hosted show Droppin' Knowledge and is scheduled to appear on additional BNN Cable programming. National trade Music Connection Magazine featured the Peace Boston Peace in the Streets project in its Daily Green section.
