The Wish Project of Lowell Holding Annual “Backpack Attack” to Provide 2,500 Homeless and Needy Families With School Supplies

July 16, 2013 -- Lowell, Mass. -- While you are out school shopping (yes it’s that time all ready), please consider buying extra supplies and backpacks for the homeless and very poor children in Merrimack Valley. 

Now through Sept. 1, the Wish Project of Lowell, a privately-funded home and baby goods bank, helping the needy gain independence and thrive, by procuring donations and partnering with other area agencies, is holding its annual Backpack Attack. 

Volunteers are currently collecting, stuffing and distributing backpacks to over 2,500 local families in need. Additionally, the Wish project also offers an opportunity to sponsor a classroom - $400 provide 20 filled backpacks.

All donations, whether monetary, backpacks or supplies, can be dropped off at the Wish Project warehouse at 1A Foundry St. Lowell, MA 01852.

To ensure contents are similar so that all children are gifted equally, donated supplies should include: spiral notebooks – 3 Folders, pocket style - 3 Pencils- pack of 10 Pencil sharpenerPens – 2 or more; Erasers – 1 pink style or 3 or 4 cap; Ruler 12”; Markers or Colored pencils; Glue Sticks- 2 or 3; Highlighter-; Bottle of glue -1; Toddlers/Element. – 1 pack 24 crayons;  High School- calculators
