Get in the mood for the spring biking season! Ferris Wheels Bike Shop and Boston City Councilor Matt O’ Malley bring you bike movie nights at Agassiz Community Center. Bicycle Dreams (2010) chronicles The Race Across America, a 3,000-mile bicycle race across the US. First held in 1982, RAAM is considered the most challenging sporting event in the world. Top riders finish in 10 days, riding 300 miles per day and sleeping a few hours a night. Riders endure Mojave Desert heat, the Rockies, the winds of the Great Plains, and the Appalachians before the sprint finish in Atlantic City. The film team used 18 cameras to uncover the inner workings of the race, capturing emotional and physical breakdowns, late-night strategy sessions, and personal triumphs. Documentary; unrated.. This event is FREE. Popcorn and soda available. For information, contact Ferris Wheels Bike Shop, 66 South Street, 617-524-BIKE, or Councilor O’ Malley’s office, 617-635-4220.
