The “Garden Trio” had its first performance at a farmer’s market last fall in Somerville Massachusetts, a performance that also gave the trio its name. The Trio features Roger Mantie, on flute and tenor saxophone; Karen Quatromoni, on vocals and jazz guitar; and Liz Horwitz on upright bass Surrounded by local farmers, and busy shoppers inspecting produce that crisp fall day, they opened with what they thought was the most appropriate tune: Autumn Leaves. To suit the setting at the Loring-Greenough House, they are going to expand on their rendition of Autumn Leaves and include it as part of a “Four Season’s” medley. They won’t sound like Vivaldi but with songs from the Great American songbook in the medley and others, they hope you will find the program entertaining. On Sunday, March 20, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at the historic Loring-Greenough House, 12 South Street, Jamaica Plain.
Afternoon tea follows the program.
Tickets are available at the door: donation $15 ($10 seniors, students and JPTC members). Space is limited; reservations are suggested—call 617-524-3158 or email lghouseconcerts@aim.com.
