BCYF Flaherty Pool Construction Design Presentation

The Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) invites you to a community meeting about the upcoming renovations to the BCYF Flaherty Swimming Pool.

The meeting will be held on Monday, June 11th at 6:30 p.m. in the BCYF Roslindale Community Center's Community Room (lower level), 6 Cummins Highway, Roslindale, MA. (Intersection of Washington Street and Cummins Highway, Roslindale Square)

Paul Johnson from Powers & Co (the project's architect,) Scott Dupre from the City of Boston's Property and Construction Management Department, and Patrick McDonough the facilities manager from BCYF will be on hand to discuss the plans and answer questions.

Other BCYF and officials or their representatives are also expected.

The updated design plans as well as a building model will be available.

According to announcements from Mayor Thomas Menino and the published BCYF FY 2012-2013 budget, the pool is slated to have a $5.6 million upgrade with will include a new mechanical plant (boilers, heaters, de-humidification  plant, etc), new roof that will admit more sunlight, and a new folding wall that will allow the pool to be open to the out-of-doors in the summer months, as well as improvements to the landscaping and parking lot.

The pool is expected to close just after Labor Day 2012 and remain closed for approximately one calendar year while construction takes place.
