Music is a Godsend. A lifesaver thrown out to me at a time in my life when the light at the end of the tunnel was flooded by unrelenting darkness. That was five years ago. Since then I’ve celebrated in music, spent lots of time deconstructing and rebuilding myself, my voice, my words – even picked up guitar and piano along the way. At times I can be too cerebral and extremely hard on myself, which is both a blessing and a curse. I struggle to describe my voice and my songs when asked, mostly because they are ever evolving. I can say, however, that I am a soulful, feisty, rockin’ storyteller with traces of Blues, Folk, Jazz, and Rock influences. I find comfort in both a Janis Joplin blood curdling scream and a soothing Marvin Gaye groan, so when I write songs they encompass both sentiments – the raw and the sensitive. I am so very grateful…soooo appreciative for my friends, musicians, teachers, and professors, even strangers who have been beacons of light throughout this journey. Through their support and guidance I’ve had the opportunity to do some very cool things like open for Amel Larriuex (one of my influences), perform on Fox 25 Morning Show and travel all the way to the other side of the globe to Athens, Greece to study music and perform. What an amazing ride thus far. My family is my rock, more then I realize at times. They have supported me in this endeavor, which makes this roller coaster ride much smoother. I dedicate all of my performances to my late Great Aunt Lillian. She taught me how to be a lady.
