Neighbors for Neighbors

Do stuff with and for your neighbors

As posted over at Universal Hub:

Sami's, which has been teasing JP with window signs for falafel, wraps and breakfast for almost forever now at 654 Centre St., finally got the last city permit it needs today, will do some touch-up work this weekend and, barring any last-minute mishaps, actually open next week. At least, that's what they said when I stopped in - I was thanked profusely for being so interested in their food.

It's owned by Sami himself, the guy who's been dishing up falafel and wraps in the medical district since 1979.

After hearing all the fanfare I finally went to this place yesterday for the first time and I was really disappointed. Got a falafel since that is their specialty, but it was burnt tasting and sour. The sandwich was tidily made, the place is very clean, but the food itself - It was no Schwarma King of Brookline. With no pickles, no hot sauce,... it felt very much like a white people version of middle eastern. Sad! I will try again tho, just to be sure. Has anyone else had an experience there they'd like to share?
What a bummer Erin! I'm looking forward to checking it out soon. Maybe because they just reopened it might take a little while for them to find their groove?
