Hello everyone,

While the JP Free School seems to be a popular idea, we have not been able to move from the "dreaming phase" to the "doing phase."  Therefore, I want to suggest that those interested in getting the project travel together to the 7th Annual AERO Conference in Albany, NY this June 24th -27th (http://www.educationrevolution.org/about.html).  The Alternative Education Resource Organization is a leading supporter of the free schools/democratic education movement and the conference will be a great way to learn how folks have actually gotten their schools up and running.

I just had a great conversation with Isaac Graves, conference organizer and graduate of Albany Free School.  He is so excited about getting us to Albany, he said if we can get a small group together to attend the conference, he would allow us to each pay what we can.  Registration is $175/person ($125 for students/low income).  It's in Albany, so we can easily car pool to get there to further keep our costs down.
