We tried, but the acoustic blues guitar playing community did not respond. Due to insufficient registration the Dakota Dave Hull workshop has been cancelled. Maybe next time.
But the concert is still on!

"This special workshop from acclaimed guitarist Dakota Dave Hull offers something for all levels of player, either fingerstylist or flatpicker, or both. Some of the things that'll be discussed: Melody, Harmonization, Transposition to other keys and registers, Improvisation, Solo, Playing nicely with others, Backup, Right-hand Technique, Rhythm, and Bringing it all together. We'll also talk some about right-hand technique, that singularly overlooked and incredibly important part of guitar playing, whether with a pick or fingers. Dave will happily try to answer most any questions a participant may have about arranging for the guitar or a group."

Mattynabib, your question about venues would be better suited for the Discussion Forum (see above).

I'm also a little surprised at the sheer LACK of apparent amplified music venues around here... I came from Gloucester, which is a smaller town by far but a HUGELY supported rock, blues and jazz scene, with many small to mid-size venues to play. I've been shocked at how hard it's been to find a way into that scene around here, if there is one. Any clues?

Just dropping in - I'm primarily a bassist (mostly electric, but also upright) who also plays some mandolin (and keyboard, if pressed) and I can do solid backup vocals, lots of years of professional and touring experience, now more home-bound with family, job, child, all that. I'm always interested in performance and recording opportunities, with a sweet spot in rock, but always happy to do some jamming with quality musicians who want to either work on original stuff, or covers either rendered well and accurately, or taken in new directions. Mostly, I want to do things, large or small, that in some way raise the level of positivity in the world, for three folks or for a thousand.
