Here are a few more events happening in JP in the coming weeks.

Wake Up the Earth, Saturday May 2nd
Parade down Centre, ending at Boylston Street and Lamartine Street at 12 noon. Festival all day.
This is the 31st annual Wake Up the Earth Festival. The event features a parade down Centre Street, ending at the corner of Lamartine and Boylston Street around 12 noon, where there are vendors, children’s activities, arts and crafts, and live entertainment for an estimated 15,000 attendees.

Curley School’s Annual Plant Sale, Saturday, May 2
Curley School, Centre Street 10:30 am – 1 pm
Rain or Shine
Come to the Centre St. parking lot across from the Curley School to buy: Flowers and Herbs, Vegetables, and Yummy Treats! Thanks for supporting the Curley K-8 School’s Art, Music and Science programs!


Mayor Menino's Coffee Hour, Monday May 4th

Mozart Park, Corner of Mozart Street and Centre, 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
This is the Mayor's 11th annual coffee hour in the park. Refreshments will be provided, care of Dunkin Donuts.

First Thursday Kick Off Party, Monday May 4th
Station 8 Salon, 761 Centre Street, 6:00-9:30
Join us as we celebrate our sponsors and the start of the 2009 season. Featuring informal modeling by JP Dame & Salmagundi, musical performance from members of 'A FAR CRY' , raffle, and catering by Real Deal, Fiore's Italian Bakery, Samuel Adams & Blanchards Liquors.

Each event runs from 6 PM to 8 PM on Centre and South streets

TREE-LOVERS NEEDED!



Plant, Water, and Care for 15 new

Trees on the Arborway Hillside, the

“Gateway to the Arborway”



Saturday, May 9, 9:00 AM to Noon

Meet at Arborway/St. Rose Street intersection

Wear long sleeves, long pants and solid shoes



The “Grow Boston Greener” Program is providing 10 red maple trees and 5 red oak trees in collaboration with the Department of Conservation (DCR). The program is a collaborative effort of the City of Boston and its partners in Boston’s Urban Forest Coalition to plant 100,000 trees in Boston by 2020. You can help with this historic effort by planting a tree. These trees will be planted according to the plans developed last summer in the partnership between DCR, Arborway residents, coalitions and organizations through the “Gateway to the Arborway” planning process.

JP Bikes Spring Roll!

Sunday, May 10, 10am: Check in and bike decorating
11am: Ride begins
Start and finish at the South Street Mall (at South and Carolina, next to the tennis courts)

On May 10th we roll! Get the word out!
The first annual JP Bikes “Spring Roll” is on May 10th. Join us for a 4-mile community bike ride that will loop around Jamaica PLain. We are celebrating the trackless Centre/South Street and the joy of biking in JP! This ride is open to all- families with children welcome! Activities for children begin at 10am. All riders must wear a helmet. Bike rentals will be available. Raindate: Sunday May 17th.
