Do stuff with and for your neighbors

I was just driving on Centre Street and while attempting to take a left on Seaverns Avenue I had to wait while a man and a woman were engaged in a conversation in the crosswalk like they didn't have a care in the world. Even after they saw me they still didn't get out of the way. They finally moved to the left but still remained in the crosswalk engaged in a conversation as I drove by!

It's funny- everyone's so used to people not stopping for them in crosswalks that they forget the law: if someone's IN the crosswalk within 10 feet of your side of the road, you HAVE to stop. I stopped for a group of 3-4 people standing on the road right by the curb in crosswalk. Eventually they stopped talking and looked at me with a "WHAT?" look. And I agree, it doesn't matter what car the captain was in...

I agree that pedestrians have gotten even more cavalier. One of my big concerns is moms letting go of their toddler's hands by a busy street so they can text. It's just a matter of time before a disaster happens. Just today on Centre Street a couple stepped out from in between parked cars in the pouring rain in front of my car one car length away from the crosswalk and then gave me a dirty look because I had to stop fast. Please use the crosswalks! If you are texting we should not have to stop and wait for you to notice that we are letting you cross either...yikes I could go on forever on this topic....OH one more thing, when the white lights are on the car is reversing! Many people step of the curb to cross while I'm backing into a parking spot, what's up with that?

Does it really matter?

Were you in a police cruiser? Or your personal vehicle?
