Do stuff with and for your neighbors

Summer may yet to be over but now is the time to plan for your after-school needs, as well as getting your little ones started in Pre-K programming.

The Roslindale Community Center is a site-licensed, EEC certified, facility that offers morning Pre-Kindergarten as well as after-school programs for kids up to age 12.  The site license is held by the Roslindale Community School Council, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit corporation, which operates the programs on the premises.

Starting this week (Aug 15) staff will start accepting applications for all programs.  Last year the center received a site license increase that will allow them to take more kids this year, so there will be some openings available.  Plan now however because new applicants are first-come.

"Tiny Tots" is the center's Pre-Kindergarten program for children age 3.9 years through 5.9 years.  The program offers age-appropriate instruction and activities for those who will be entering Kindergarten in 1-2 years from now, or as a transfer from another program.  Tiny Tots meets weekday mornings from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  Parents have a choice of two, three, or five day programs based on interest and child's maturity level.  Program is Early Education and Care (EEC) certified.

The Roslindale Community Center also has two age-grouped after-school day care programs available with some openings.

The Kindergarten After School program is geared toward the K1 to K2 age group (up to 5.9 years of age) with an enrollment limit of 20 children.  The grammar school age grouping for ages 6-12 years offers homework assistance, structured play time, computer lab access, and various other educational enrichment offerings.  Enrollment is limited to 39 children.  Both programs are Early Education and Care (EEC) certified and are qualified to accept child care vouchers.  Rates are low cost and reasonable.

The after school programs begin September 8 (first day of school in Boston) and operates weekdays from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM which accommodates all school dismissal times and most parent work needs.

School Vacation week options are also available for parents needing full-day care options when school is not in session.  Vacation week programs (in December, February, and April) operate from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM with parents providing a bagged lunch.

The center is closed on major national and state holidays, and may be closed during declared snow emergencies.
