WE BLEW BY OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL! - THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! In total we raised $560 dollars. The additional money we raised ($160) will go into our general fund - which is getting low - so yeah neighbors!
Quick Facts:
- 19 of you donatedand
- one individual (who wished be anonymous) donated $200!
- two donations came from non-members but big supporters - Steve Ressler and Steven Clift!
Special thanks to Ben Sheldon for giving me the idea that people would actually give money to help me get to DC - not just points!
If you still wish to donate, our next fundraising campain will be to raise money for the flyers we need to print. The cost will be $550. If you wish to contribute to that fund you may do so here. |
Neighbors,
Earlier this summer, Gina Bianchini the CEO of Ning.com, the platform we use to build all our social network demonstrated, this network at the
Personal Democracy Forum in NYC. In the audience was Laurel Ruma Editor, O'Reilly Media who sent me an email encouraging me to submit an application to present in the Showcase for the Gov 2.0 Expo on September 8th in Washington DC.
I did and
our proposal was accepted! This is super cool because I anticipate it will generate lots of interest about our neighborhood connecting and organizing model/tool and hopefully lead to other cities wanted to bring us there - hence driving revenue to finally make this a sustainable operation. There is nothing more that I'd love to do than run Neighbors for Neighbors full time (I do sorta already - but it would be nice to make a living at it).
My father generously donated points for my hotel stay - and I hoping you, our members, can pitch in a couple bucks to cover my flight, cab fares, and incidentals. The total cash I need to raise is $400.00.
Please pitch in what you can here. Your donation is tax-deductible as we are 501c3.
