Join the Wilderness Heals pledge hike to benefit the Elizabeth Stone House!

Hello JP neighbors,

Every summer, women from all over New England depart on a mountain journey to participate in the three-day Wilderness Heals pledge hike in support of survivors of violence and trauma. Wilderness Heals benefits the Elizabeth Stone House in Roxbury, MA. This year’s hike will be held July 17-19 and will unite more than 75 women to hike through the rugged terrain of New Hampshire’s White Mountains.

The Elizabeth Stone House helps women and families rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic violence, mental illness, substance abuse and other forms of trauma. The Stone House provides safe shelter, advocacy, support groups, parenting classes and economic development programs to the women and children in residence at ESH and to those in the greater Boston community. It is the only program in eastern Massachusetts that specializes in working with battered women with additional mental health and substance abuse issues.

Any woman can hike in Wilderness Heals and registration is open until June 19. Participants can be experienced outdoorswomen or those women who have only dreamed of waking to a mountain sunrise.

In addition to five beautiful trail options, this year there is a new Front Country trail options for Wilderness Heals. This option offers more manageable trails for those who are new to hiking and the Front Country trail options are also open to mother-daughter teams (with girls as young as 12 years old).

To register you simply need to go to www.elizabethstonehouse.org, click on “Wilderness Heals” on the homepage and hit “Register.”

If you have ANY questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at ahoward@elizabethstone.org. And remember, you can always check out our blog at www.wildernessheals.blogspot.com.

Every day that I come to work, I think about how proud I am to be a part of such an inspiring community and I hope to count you as a part of the Stone House/Wilderness Heals family! Remember, when it comes to helping women heal from the effects of violence, together we can move mountains.

Best wishes,
