Do stuff with and for your neighbors

For those of you with roof racks on your cars, beware. My Yakima rack
was stolen last Thursday or Friday night off my car while it was parked
on Sheridan at the corner with Chestnut Ave. Checking on Craigslist, I
saw that another person's rack was stolen on May 20th off his car in
JP. His
was a Thule. We both had our racks and our cars locked. So the thief
must have a master key of some kind. I reported it to the police and
the dispatcher said she had recently taken three reports of similar
incidents (not in JP, though).

It was the whole thing -- cross bars, mounts, fairing, an extender for loading boats. I didn't have any accessories on it -- I figured the rack would be safe, but I've never left accessories on it -- I don't have a lock for the kayak holders. One of my neighbors mentioned that his roof rack appeared to have been messed with last Thursday night, too. But, it didn't get taken.

I live on Sheridan near Chestnut and I am sickened by the car break-ins and thefts! So sorry to hear this.
Don't know what we can do to improve things around here...my car was broken into last year, and others I know of too... Ridiculous!!

What specifically was stolen? The bars and the footprints or the specific accessories...the bike or ski racks or both?
