You can help us reduce waste & lessen our carbon footprint.

Use in-store compost bins.
What goes in the compost bin?
Hot cups, hot sleeves, cold cups, cold lids, food scraps, napkins, corn based utensils, tea bags, sugar packets, soup containers + paper sandwich wrap.

Recycle.
What can be recycled? Glass bottles, hot lids, newspapers, aluminum cans, drink cartons & plastic food containers.

Ask for a glass
or mug, a dish, & silverware if you are EATING IN!

Bring a mug
& get 25 cents off your drink! If you like this idea, check out

The Mug Project!
& help change the world one mug at a time.

SHOP LOCALLY
Help build a vibrant local economy in JP!
We realize you may not be able to do all of your shopping at local independent stores, but a small shift in your shopping budget can help keep businesses you LOVE in J.P. alive & kickin'.
The Sustainable Business Network of Boston has a campaign that outlines how to make the shift. Visit 10% SHIFT to sign
the pledge, find Shifters in JP, read
reports & try the Local Calculator. 10 shift logo3
Some shops we think make JP great are listed at City Feed's LINKS. What are your favorites? Email us!

FARMS!
Join a loc
al CSA (community supported agriculture) such as Enterprise Farms or Stillman's Farms, two great farms that City Feed buys direct from. There's plenty more info about local CSA's at Food Routes, Local Harvest or SEMAP. Or, visit our web site and go to LINKS/USEFUL INFO.

fair trade logo 1 BUY FAIR TRADE
As a consumer YOU have the power to make a
difference in people's lives by the choices you
make when you shop. Check out our October
FEED that features Fair Trade and has lots of great info. Ask for Fair Trade coffee wherever you shop and look for labels on items like: Bananas, Chai, chocolate, cocoa, energy drinks, Kombucha, mangoes, sugar, tea, vanilla & more!

HELP US GET TO ZERO WASTE
Since our start in 2000 we have taken initiative to be sustainable and lessen our environmental footprint. We reduced 26 metric tons of waste in 2009, so far. That's like taking 20 cars off the roadways!
Download the report from Save That Stuff to see more stats!

We want to keep improving in 2010 & get even closer.
YOU can help us get to Zero Waste!

AND Have a Happy, Sustainable New YEAR!!

About the Organization:
Neighbors for Neighbors is an online social network that connects people who live, work and serve in a particular neighborhood. The pilot network, Jamaica Plain, connected 1,200 members to 90+ social activity & service projects. Activities ranged from organizing block socials, crafting, physical fitness to anti-crime initiatives and much more.

Neighbors' online membership is now 2,522 strong. Join Neighbors for Neighbors online today and connect with a neighborhood project or social group that satisfies your personal interests and goals. It's like Face book for JP -- but without the Mafia Wars or other games. You could meet some like-minded folks and maybe have a good time!

Thanks, Neighbors for Neighbors!
We wish you a Happy New Year.
