Welcome to summer!
This month marks the beginning of our Thursday night backyard film series and we're super psyched to be hosting several local filmmakers this month and to be giving some local filmmakers two nights this month (and throughout the summer) to curate their own film nights for your viewing pleasure!

This year’s film series is co-sponsored by UFO HEFEWEIZEN, CITY FEED & SUPPLY and ULA CAFÉ. We are all about shopping locally and love to support our friends, so drink some delicious UFO beer at our screenings and grab some snacks from CITY FEED and ULA and keep it local w/ these fantastic local businesses! We are kicking off the season w/ local filmmakers David Day and Amy Grill and their documentary "SPEAKING IN CODE" on Thursday night, June 3rd. At first glance, SPEAKING IN CODE would appear to be just another documentary about electronic music. But one viewing reveals a series of character studies and vérité views of a musical genre, with an intimacy not seen since Don't Look Back took us inside of Dylan's folk music or The Decline of Western Civilization showed us the LA punk scene (http://www.speakingincode.com).

We are also excited to be presenting an al fresco screening of our good buddy, Andrew Bujalski's newest film, BEESWAX at the end of the month. And though Andrew (who recently had a baby boy w/ his wife in Austin, TX) won't be joining us, we are excited to host actors, alex karpovsky and dj taitlebaum for an informal q&a after the film ( http://beeswaxfilm.com/).
