At about 5:05pm, on Sunday, February 14, 2010, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) were on patrol in the area of 1870 Columbus Ave when a Boston Firefighter exited the firehouse in order to wave the officers down. When the officers came to a stop, the firefighter informed them that an individual, who had been mugged, entered the firehouse after being attacked. Officers spoke to the victim who stated that he was walking along Columbus Ave when two black males approached him, acted as if they were in possession of a weapon and demanded money. After pocketing the victim’s cell phone and earrings, the victims fled the scene on foot. Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspects over the police radio.

Officers then asked and encouraged the victim to enter their police cruiser in an effort to search the area for the suspects. With the victim on board, officers began a search of the immediate area. In short time, the victim spotted the suspects walking in the area of 3100 Washington Street. Upon seeing the suspects, the victim stated, “That’s them!” Upon seeing the officers approaching, the suspects took off on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, both suspects were apprehended. While pursuing the suspects, officers observed one of the suspects discard a cell phone. Upon recovering the phone, officers learned that the phone belonged to the victim.

Officers arrested Randell Twine, 19, of Boston and James Taylor, 17, of Boston and charged both with Armed Robbery.
