I'm teaching a free childbirth class at Isis Maternity in Brookline (to fulfill requirements of Lamaze childbirth educator certification program). The class will run six consecutive Wednesday evenings (1/27 through 3/3). I am a mother of 2 under 3 with a background in bodywork (certified in Pilates and the Alexander Technique). We'll use real birth stories to talk about the different things that can happen in birth. We'll also focus on techniques and strategies for people interested in natural birth. The class is is designed for pregnant women and a support person to take together. I'd love to answer any questions.
Thaks for posting. My husband and I are expecting our first child in August. I'm very interested in learning more about what you are offering at ISIS. What time are the classes?
The class is going to be 7pm to 9pm. We'll cover what happens in normal, healthy birth, common hospital procedures, interventions, complications and spend good amount of time talking about and practicing non medical ways to deal with the pain of labor. We'll also talk about breastfeeding, newborn care and maternal postpartum care.
Let me know if you have more questions and/or confirm that you want to be in the class, I'd love to have you.
