Stop the Poop!

A continuous problem since we moved into the neighborhood are (some) owners who are un-neighborly in terms of managing their dogs' poops. It would be sad if those (few) that are not complying to ruin it for all the considerate owners out there.

I found a bag of poop on the sidewalk just today, on the JWay. I went ahead and tossed it. I guess it's an autumn problem, too.
I have a friend who has reminded his neighbors more than once to scoop their poop. Perhaps we need more "community policing"like that.

Un-curbed poop is unsightly, unsanitary and a universal annoyance. However, what I truly can't understand is when dog owners go so far as to put it in a bag, then leave the bag on the sidewalk? Now we have to wait for the bag to bio-degrade before we have the joy of smelling and stepping in the well preserved poop.

If you're above scooping your dog's poo and carrying it home with you in a plastic bag, you shouldn't own a dog.

I - once upon a time - lived in Salem - on more than one occassion I watched a cop - watching me - waiting to see if I picked up the poop. After awhile - it just becomes a part of your routine - pick it up and throw it away responsibly. If you embarrass someone into doing it once ( picking up the poop) - they willl probably do it again.

Is this because it's summer? Custer Street, which connects South Street to the Arborway and leads t o the entrance of the Arboretum has sidewalks that can be quite treacherous for the naïve walker. I generally walk on the street to avoid any mishaps, poop everywhere! I keep trying to come up with solutions to this problem and can't figure out what to do.

There was a gift right in front of my place on Saturday morning - and 20 feet from the dog park. Nice.

Funny Casey should mention Wenham Street ! It's the 'scene of the crime' I am talking about but I am sure it's a universal phenomenom.

Some people think it is appropriate to simply throw the bag of poop into anyone's trash barrell - NO - take it home and flush it in your own toilet, or wrap it well and put it in your own barrell. Two days in my barrell and the stench of poop is terrible - I have two dogs and have never had a problem disposing of poop in a clean and sanitary manner.

I've recently started walking my two dogs on Wenham Street in the mornings before work and I am ASTOUNDED by the amount of poop on the sidewalks. What is wrong with people? Can we set up a round-the-clock vigil to find out who is doing this and stop it? It's awful.

This has been a continuous challenge for neighbors on both sides of our house - including our own. Anyone else frustrated by this?
