Event Description

The Wish Project of Lowell, a privately-funded home and baby goods bank, helping the needy gain independence and thrive, by procuring donations and partnering with other area agencies, announces the third annual Bike for Beds Poker Run benefit to be held on May 18th at 10:15 a.m. Area motorcyclists are invited to ride more than 45 miles from Dracut to Auburn, N.H. to Hudson, N.H. to help buy beds for families in need.

“On any given night, more than 100 local children sleep on the floor because families cannot afford to buy beds,” said Donna Hunnewell, Founder/Executive Director of the Wish Project. “The Bikes for Beds benefit will provide needy families in the Greater Lowell area with safe, comfortable places to sleep.”

Registration ($20) will begin at the Joker’s Lounge (135 Stewart St., Dracut) at 9:30 a.m.

Breakfast will be served and food will be provided throughout the ride. Additionally, participants will enjoy raffles, music and more.

Route: Leave Joker’s Lounge in Dracut at 10:15 a.m. Arrive at Village Square Restaurant in Hampstead, N.H. at about 10:45 a.m. Leave first stop at about 10:45 a.m. and arrive at Auburn Pits in Auburn, N.H. at about 12 p.m. Leave second stop at about 12:45 p.m. and arrive at Backstreet Grill in Hudson, N.H. at about 1:30 p.m. Leave third stop at about 2:30 p.m. and arrive back at Joker’s Lounge at about 3 p.m.

The Wish Project coordinates monthly service projects and encourages community fundraisers. In addition to basic items, the Wish Project also procures furniture and large/bulk donations from the northeast, such as mattresses, clothing etc. using tractor trailers. One-time or recurring monetary contributions and corporate sponsorships are also accepted.
