Event Description

Given an hour for our children! All BPS Parents are invited to participate in a rally and lobby day at the State House to ask Governor Patrick to direct federal stimulus funds to the Boston Public Schools. The rally begins at Noon, lobbying visits to state senators and reps will be at 1:00pm for parents who can stay longer. The first round of stimulus funds gave resource-rich Wellesley schools $1.1 million and Boston got nothing. The Dept. of Ed says no more money will be distributed to Boston except Special education and Title I funds for low income students. It's not enough to avert drastic budget cuts that will decimate the schools. The state is getting money from Washington that Obama hopes will bolster the public schools - we need to make sure that happens in Boston.
