Whole Foods or Trader Joe's: We have voice, let it be heard!!

Neighbors,

I just blogged about Hi-Lo closing.

I'm curious, which would you rather, Whole Food or Trader Joe's or what alternatives would you suggest?

How would this benefit our community and who would it hurt?

If we feel strongly about this, we can weigh in. Before we do, we need to carefully take into who our who really represents - and work to ensure all voices are heard.

Whole Foods!  More variety in what they sell, and excellent quality.

People really need to consider the big picture instead of just fixating on convenience. Hi-Lo provided hard to find ethic foods, TJ's or Whole Foods do not carry these items.  So, I would say that these Corporate Markets are more likely to cater to the young professional crowd.

I mean seriously, is it THAT hard to take a 10 minute drive to the Trader Joe's in Brookline?  Are we that lazy?  Would we rather deal with the increase in traffic that result in putting in one of those chain stores? 

 

I bet some of you would jump up and down at the prospect of building a Starbucks in the middle of Centre Street as well. 

 

But really my posts are pretty futile because, let's face it, money talks-and the yuppies have taken over.

Trader Joe's is more affordable but can also be not so good at times. Either one would be ok.

Keep Hyde Square diverse, for crying out loud! First we lose the Milky Way, then La Pupusa Guanaca, and now Hi-Lo? And replacing it with a giant corporate ultra-expensive ripoff yuppie market? Come on. What is this, Davis Square? @Sheila Tunney: The logical choice is Trader Joe's.
