Do stuff with and for your neighbors

On Sunday, April 3, 2010, detectives from District E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to the Brookline Police Department as part of a joint effort to interview two male suspects who had just been arrested for breaking and entering into a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.

Pursuant to the investigation, detectives from Brookline and Boston were able to determine that the two suspects that had been arrested were responsible for at least twenty-six different breaking and entering that had been reported in the West Roxbury area. As a result of the admissions made by the suspects, detectives were able to determine that the suspects were not only responsible for the B&Es in the West Roxbury area but also for several others in the Jamaica Plain, South Boston areas and other towns bordering the City of Boston. In addition to the information attained from the suspects, officers were also able to locate and recover a stockpile of stolen goods which the suspects had in their possession. These items remain the subject of further investigation.

The suspects, Victor Pena, 18, of Jamaica Plain and Leander Ortega, 18, of Dorchester were arraigned for their crimes in Brookline but Boston Police detectives continue to investigate the numerous reported cases of B&Es to motor vehicles in and around the Boston area. A part of this investigation will involve having victims of past B&Es identify a large stock of stolen goods which were recovered from the suspects to further assess what charges and how many counts should be leveled against the suspects.

It is expected that sometime next week the suspects will either appear for arraignment or summons at the West Roxbury District Court to answer to what is expected to be a long list charges related to the reported instances of B&Es to cars.
