Do stuff with and for your neighbors

There were two reported car breaks last night on District 13. There was no damage reported to either vehicle and both reported that their GPS was stolen. The locations of the incidents were Lamartine Street and Bourne Street. The streets are opposite ends of Forest Hills.

In reference to stolen cars: Older model Honda's, Toyota's and other makes are much easier to steal than the new models. Most Hondas starting in the year 2000 have sophisticated transponder keys. Other manufacturers have similar anti-theft devices making the cars extremely difficult to steal. However, the car is still vulnerable to break ins so don't leave anything valuable in the car. For older moder cars, consider after market anti-theft devices. There are several options such as alarms, steering wheel locks, kill switches, etc..You should visit a store that specilizes in vehicle security.

Also, get lug nut locks for your tires.

How horrible Erin! My boyfriend's car was stolen in front of our house on Wachusett St. back in May. My car was stolen over a year ago but in Brighton. We both had Hondas. I'm nervous about buying another car next semester. While some things will just get stolen in an urban environment, besides removing GPS devices (which we don't have) what are tips to avoid getting your car stolen?

One of these car break-ins was mine. I never installed the mount in my car or have any indication that there's a GPS in there. In fact I usually don't keep the device in the car at all, but left it in the glove compartment that night because my hands were full with groceries. It just takes one time I guess!

Neighbors, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not leave your GPS units in your cars.

Take them down, along with the mounts, and wipe away the squiggly lines.

Please and thank you!
