Greetings!
As someone who loves going to farmers markets, I've always been disappointed that JP didn't have a bigger market with a wider range of products. Well, we still don't have a super big market, but now we have two of them.
As you may remember, Community Servings opened a Farmers' Market last year over at 18 Marbury Terrace, near the Stony Brook T station. This year, they are holding the market on Wednesday from 4-7 pm, starting July 7. The market features fruits, vegetables, honey, eggs, plants and cheeses from Heaven's Harvest Farm and Milbrook Farm. It also has bread and pastry products from Blue Frog Bakery.
If you care about eating good food and supporting farmers, it's important to shop at farmers' markets (and/or belong to a CSA). The farmers markets are a great opportunity for all parts of the JP community to spend time together. The vendors provide access to SNAP and EBT benefits, and they accept WIC and Senior Coupons, which helps make fresh local food affordable for everyone.
For more info, vist the Community Servings website at www.servings.org. They need volunteers and people to help spread the word.
Let's help grow this market! I hope to see you there on July 7.

PS - Of course I'll also be going to the Stillman's farmers market on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons in the Bank of America parking lot and their new Thursday afternoon market at the Loring-Greenough House, too!
