This is a common scam over the internet or by mail known as a "419 Letter" due to the violation of the section of Federal Law. ….walked into District 13 to report a scam. The victim stated on or about August 18, 2009 he received a letter in the mail from Mid-Mountain Co. Inc. International Claims Department 285 Bay Street ONT, M5G-2N7. This letter stated that the victim was a winner of $125,000.00 US dollars. The company sent the victim a check for $4.875.00 which was taken from his winnings and was asked to return $2,875.00 for the Government taxes through Western Union or Moneygram. The victim stated on 08-25-09 he sent $3,014.00 to XXXXXXXX in Canada through Western Union XXXXXXXXX. The victim was charged $164.00 from Western Union for the transaction. The victim further stated that he also sent $1,000.00 to XXXXXXXX in Orlando Florida. The victim stated he was charged $79.99 from Western Union for this transaction.
