R.A.D. Training this month at Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center

Good Evening to all,

I hope this blog finds everyone well. I know in my heart that warmer weather is "just" around the corner. I would like to reach out to the women of JP to inform them that we are once again offering a R.A.D. Systems self-defense course starting this Wednesday, March 9, 2011. The course will be held at the Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center located at 640 Centre St. Classes will run from 6-8:00p.m. on the following dates: March 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th.

To quote our brochure:

" The R.A.D. Systems of Self-Defense are the official self-defense training programs of the National
Academy of Defense Education. The (RAD) Rape Agression Defense System is a program of
realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive,
women-only course that begins with risk awareness, risk reduction, risk recognition, and risk
avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a
Martial Arts program.

The Boston Police Department District 13's (JP) Community Service Office offers R.A.D. courses
using certified R.A.D. instructors. It is free of charge. Please contact Elisa Reid via email:
reide.bpd@cityofboston.gov or Officer Antonette Cabral cabrala.bpd@cityofboston.gov or the
office at 617-343-5623,24 to sign up for course."

We just finished a class last night at the Brookside Health Center where we had 12 women participate. The overwhelming opinion was that the classes were highly informative and FUN. We look forward to seeing you.
